Douglas County has some of the best athletes in the country.

Many enter their senior seasons with multiple D1 offers to some of the best universities. During this school year we will highlight some of those athletes, their accomplishments, and their promising futures.

Ava Johnson | Chaparral Wolverines Volleyball


Ava enters her senior season ranked as the number four player in the state by prepdig.com. Last season she earned AVCA All- American Honorable Mention and AVCA All-Region honors. She was a 1st Team All-League selection in the Continental League in 2023 and 2024,and made the Colorado 5A All-State Honorable Mention team. Ava is committed to Texas Tech.

DJ Bordeaux | Legend Titans

Football


The 6'3"/185lb quarterback is back in Colorado after a two year stint in Georgia. Bordeaux registered 2,645 passing yards with 20 passing touchdowns, along with 510 yards and five rushing touchdowns last year. DJ has received offers from 28 D1 schools, including Auburn,Penn State, and Michigan State. He has verbally committed to Boston College.

Caden Miller / Ponderosa Mustangs

Football


Caden is ranked as the number six linebacker in the state by prepredzone.com. The 5’11/185lb middle linebacker was labeled a tackling machine, racking up 131 total tackles (64 solo, 67 assisted), 6 TFL, 2 sacks, 7 QB pressures, 5 PD, 1 FF, and 1 FR last year. He was a 1st Team All-League selection last year. Currently, Miller is undecided which college offer he will commit to.
