Douglas County has some of the best athletes in the country. Many enter their senior seasons with multiple D1 offers to some of the best universities. During this school year, we will highlight some of those athletes, their accomplishments, and their promising futures.




Tommy Humphreys

CHAPARAL WOLVERINES

BASEBALL

Tommy is a three-year starter for Chaparral. In 2025, he earned Academic All-Conference honors and posted a career .354 batting average during the playoffs. Tommy was selected to compete in the 2023 PBR National Futures Games and is ranked as a Top 15 player in Colorado. He has garnered interest from Columbia, Georgetown, Navy, BYU, and others. Tommy is committed to play for the Air Force Academy.







Avery Brand

LEGEND TITANS

SOCCER


Avery is one of the top midfielders in the state. She is a four-year letterwinner anchoring the Legend team while also earning Academic All-Conference honors. Avery was selected as part of the U17 ECNL National Champion team. This past year she scored eight goals, totaling 18 points, and was named team MVP. Avery is committed to the University of Oklahoma.









Kenzie Rankin

PONDEROSA MUSTANGS MUS

TRACK & FIELD


Kenzie Rankin is a top high jump prospect in the nation. She placed top five in state during both her freshman and sophomore seasons and won seven of ten meets last year, including the league championship. She recently qualified for Nike Indoor Nationals in New York City. Kenzie has not yet committed but is considering Colorado, Navy, or a school in Utah.
